The vibrancy of youth that many people pride themselves in is not here permanently and usually age 30 becomes the turning point for most people. As soon as this age is past signs such as weigh gain, wrinkles due to loss of skin elasticity become a real issue and people soon begin invading the cosmetic industry to try and fade the most obvious signs. HGH therapy has been used for a few years now as a way of trying to reverse the effects of approaching old age and the weight gain that accompanies this challenge. One issue that always comes out is regarding the safety of HGH.

Is this the fountain of youth?

HGH therapy

The scientists who discovered HGH claimed to have discovered the fountain of youth because of the positive results that were seen among the people who were administered with it. The subjects showed such results as an increase in muscle mass, bone density, improved libido, and weight loss and reduced wrinkles. The initial experiments appeared to take at least 10 years off the person’s appearance. HGH therapy as a way of dealing with signs of aging can be quite expensive and as such not just about every body can get to afford this so called fountain of youth.

Are there risks involved?

Just like it is even with the best of all human discoveries or inventions, there is usually the other side of the coin that should be considered as well. Use of HGH therapy is though to have some side effects that have been observed among some people who have gone though it. Some of the known side effects include insulin resistance, fluid retention and gynecomastia especially among those people who use HGH therapy over a long period of time or when the pituitary gland gets over stimulated with this form of hormone replacement.

HGH replacement and HGH supplementation

When talking about the safety of HGH you must realize that two forms of HGH therapy exist namely HGH replacement and HGH supplementation. The former is administered through a prescription injection and is usually done when a person’s pituitary gland produces very little or no natural HGH. The latter is done to supplement what the body produces and especially when people are getting older and want to deal with signs of aging. Supplementation involves stimulating the pituitary gland to reduce more than it is doing already. This does not necessary damage the pituitary gland or cause it to stop functioning like it happens when the injection is used for a prolonged period of time.

Is HGH safe?

Most of the HGH supplements that are used are relatively safe if taken according to the instructions. It is however wise to always check with your doctor before using any HGH supplements so that you get advised on any underlying illness you could be having whose medication could easily counteract with HGH the same way you do when taking any other supplements.
